Heated Gloves and Vest on Long Term 2009 Ducati 848

Heated Gear Best Thing Since Tivo and the Microwave

There are some things in life that once you try, you can never go back.

The Microwave...
Tivo...
Satellite Radio....

and add to that list heated gear.

I was introduced to some Firstgear heated vest and gloves last year after I froze my baggets off on a road test to Vegas in December. The temperatures in Los Angeles have been dropping and I had to ride home in 39 degrees this week (weak I know for some parts of the country) and I decided it was time to pull it back out again.

I have Firstgear heated vest and gloves. The vest goes under a jacket and the gloves plug into the vest. Everything is controlled by a small box with a dial on it that mounts (via Velcro) to my gas tank.

The temperature was around 40 degrees and I plugged in and took off. Within about 3 minutes my body was up to temperature.

Riding in cold weather with heated gear is a lot like driving around in winter with your windows down and the heater blasting. It's almost comforting.

All I know is I don't think I can ever go back to non-heated gear, during the winter at least.
