2009 Kawasaki ZX-10R

Track Day at Willow Springs

I hit the track yesterday hoping to go a little faster than I did last time on the R1 (last month's cover story).

After a handful of laps I started getting in the groove, but then my gear shift peg fell off in turn 8 at about 140 mph when I went for a downshift.

It was my fault for not removing the little rubber "washer holder" thingy when I installed it, but regardless—it threw me some seriously bad mojo and I couldn't go any quicker after I fixed it.

I didn't run off the track, but it was close. And at that speed it gets in your head a bit I guess.

Oh well.

Otherwise, the ZX-10R was super stable and a lot of fun overall at the big, fast circuit.
