Over the last two days, my 2009 Ducati 848 hit the streets for the usual freeway commute, this time with a twist.
On the way to a meeting in Camarillo (about 60 miles from the office) I took a quick ride up the coast through some of Southern California's best canyon roads.
It started off with a typical freeway ride, in which the Ducati 848 performs beautifully. The power of the mid-sized V-twin is more than enough to get out of the way of any car or truck on the road.
Riding up the coast was a breeze with the cool ocean air keeping things chill. When it got twisty, the bike came alive and grunted its way through every twist and bend in the road. The brakes are phenomenal and there is power everywhere to pull you out of the corners.
After popping out on the other side of the mountain, it was back to freeway riding.
There are lots of bikes that perform well in the canyons or on a freeway, but there are few that will do both equally as good.
Watch for more updates and ride reports to come.
