Project R1 Resurrection is about to begin and I managed to get the factory service manual, a MUST-HAVE for anyone trying to work on their bike...
...brand new or old, I've always bought a factory service manual with EVERY bike I've owned. I'm not talking about one of those third-party manuals, but a factory book.
Following the other books I've over-torqued bolts, under-torqued bolts and all together done things wrong. However, being that the factory made the bike and the manual, well, the likelihood of getting misinformation is slim-to-none.
Really, I'm not kidding. A factory service manual will tell you everything you need to know and how to do it. Yeah, they're pricey, but well worth it. After all, strip one important bolt or set your cam timing a few teeth off and that factory service manual would have been money well spent.
Oh yeah, stay tuned for Project R1 Resurrection, it's an early production '98 R1 that is actually one of the first of its kind to float over to the US. It's a VERY special bike and we've got some very special coverage coming soon.
