Retuned or Detuned?

Sportbike Motor for the Street?

Now that the CB1000R is with us, and we've had the FZ1 and Z1000 for a while something comes to mind regarding their performance capabilities...

They each use a version of their sportbike siblings' engines, but they've been "retuned" for the street for more usable power (the new Z1000 is said to have an entirely new motor, separate from the ZX-10R).

While the FZ1 was somewhat of a let down because the R1 already had loads of torque, the new Z1000 stomps around town like an angry troll and would clean house on most sportbikes up to 100 mph.

Would you prefer a directly transplanted sportbike motor into the naked bikes, or are you cool with the different cams, timing and fueling for these "streetbikes?"

It makes more sense to me to have instant wheelies off idle and immediate power everywhere instead of in the upper rev ranges...
