...and I'm glad I did, this thing rips! I liked the 'Busa, but I loved the Gixxer. It's light enough to throw around, has strong midrange power and a BIG top end hit. I know the BMW S1000RR is the fastest bike these days, but the GSX-R1000 has more power below 10,000 RPM; the area that counts the most on the street. The brakes are equally strong and the chassis is stable through my twisty commute.
