I was a little puzzled by one motorcyclist's behavior on the ride to work this morning.
I was the second in a line of three sportbikes splitting lanes on the freeway (it's legal in CA remember). We were going about 10 MPH faster than the slow moving line of traffic. After several miles we came upon a guy riding a BMW police style bike (R 1200 RT, I think) who was wearing a half helmet, no gloves, a T-shirt and shorts.
I noted that he checked his mirrors about five times as we ground to a halt behind him. It almost seemed that he was going extra slow to purposely hold us up.
Now why would somebody do that?
After a half-mile and several more mirror checks (yeah dude, we're all still right behind you) I moved directly behind him and gave a couple gentle throttle blips.
He had numerous chances to move over, but instead continued to block us.
After another minute of this nonsense I got around him, all the while wondering why he was being such a dick.
He had on zero safety gear, and was going so slow that he was nearly pinched by several cars, yet refused to let us by. Was this his way of regulating how fast we were riding? I mean...WTF?!
