I took delivery of my 2011 "longtermer" for the year, a Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and although I haven't spent but 100 miles on it, I already love it...
...admittedly it's a little porky compared to the Triumph 675 Daytona I had been riding, but what wouldn't be after the feathery Triple, right?
However, power off the bottom and through the midrange coupled with the short gearing makes in-town blasts a hoot. Lofting the front tire comes easily, almost accidental if you give it too much juice in the lower gears. But this big-block character of the motor makes it nice for shooting in and out of traffic.
Wind protection is also nice, and the edgy styling is growing on me. So far I'd like to improve the brakes, add a little color, clean up the loose ends and add some pipes. This thing needs some lungs so it can sing free. The stock exhaust note is exceptionally deep, so I can only image what it'll sound like with some proper pipes!
